My first job was as a karate instructor in my early teens, where I helped anyone from ages 3 to 75 learn how to land a mean kick. That early passion for coaching is what still drives me today. After high school, I attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where I ran for Student Body President as a freshman—and won. The networking and sales skills I honed as a part of that experience brought me in front of dozens of United States Senators, enabled me to sit in on a US Supreme Court Justice confirmation, brought me overseas on a full scholarship for study abroad, and ultimately a gig running a statewide political campaign.
Realizing I enjoyed the nuts and bolts of how to raise money for a campaign, I combined that interest with my love of travel and moved overseas as a part of a work abroad program for Citrix.
I didn’t intend on falling in love, but that’s what happened when I was abroad — I fell in love with sales and the rest is history.
Since then, multiple startups and tons of learning.
