At Google, I lead the global Machine Learning, Systems and Cloud AI team, with responsibility for Product and Engineering across:
- Compute (Google Compute Engine, Borg/Cluster Scheduling, Operating Systems and Kernel)
- Cloud AI (Vertex, GenAI)
- Platforms/ML/ASICs (TPUs, GPUs, Accelerators, Servers, Storage, and Networking)
- Network Infrastructure (Datacenter, Campus, RPC, and End Host network software)

Previously, I was the Area Technical Lead for networking and responsible for Network Infrastructure at Google.

Prior to joining Google, I was the SAIC Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at UC San Diego and the Director of UCSD's Center for Networked Systems, where I had the privilege of serving as adviser for 25 PhD students. I am a Fellow of the ACM, a member of the National Academy of Engineering. I have been recognized with a number of awards, including the National Science Foundation CAREER award, the Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship, the Duke University David and Janet Vaughn Teaching Award, the UC Berkeley Distinguished EECS Alumni Award, and the SIGCOMM Lifetime Achievement Award.
