Currently, I'm focused on using coaching and teaching as a platform to help kids live intentionally. I'm fortunate to have two significant opportunities to do this on a daily basis as a classroom teacher and a head boys basketball coach. In the classroom, I teach a leadership class which I created and designed the content for. It's a unique blessing to be able to impact students not involved in athletics by sharing our approach to leadership and personal development. Basketball was my original outlet, platform, to contribute to the kids around me. I've found what we do in our program, and classroom, is simple; but different.

I've never been interested in dabbling in a bunch of different things. I would much rather commit fully to something of value and pursue excellence in that arena. What I love most about what I do now is that I help people realize what they are capable of becoming. I help them question, reflect. I help them live the life they choose, not the life they settle for.

I've been in or around education and athletics my entire life. My dad is a retired high school physics teacher, and my mom a retired bus driver. A year out of college, I returned home to St. Paris Graham HS as a math teacher and the head basketball coach. My last 5 years at Graham I served as the Athletic Director and basketball coach. It was very fulfilling to be able to pour back into the community that helped shape me into the person I am today. Though I loved the experience and opportunity to impact the Graham community, one of my most defining professional moments came when I resigned as the Athletic Director and took a job back in the classroom as a teacher and coach at Centerville HS. For me, the choice was not to leave Graham. It was to choose my commitment to my family over my profession. As an Athletic Director, I was not able to effectively balance my family while maintaining the level of performance at my job as I felt it deserved and required.

At Centerville I do my best to bring a relentless mentality to growth and improvement to our school. I also strive to help kids live intentionally and to define success on their own terms, not what society tells them success is. Our school is trying to prepare and equip kids for life. I attempt to bring a reflective and individualized perspective to that preparation.

Outside of teaching and coaching I like to spend time with my family, exercise, and be outside. I also enjoy reading and watching movies. When not with my family, I like to spend time alone thinking and wondering.
