I always thought that my dream job had its essence in the marketing function. From Marketing coordinator to Manager and then Director, I kept on performing with every new challenge, but there was always something missing. I kept on being drawn by what sales was doing, I saw areas that could be improved and wanted to share it with them so they could be more effective, increase their productivity to close more deals. The magnetism of the need had been calling me for years.
Three years ago I was given the big challenge to build a Business Development Team, other than having done the calls years ago, I had no idea what it meant today to be a successful BDR. My first experience was a total fail. We had 1 person, no processes and no guidelines as to what would make this BDR successful. I needed help, I must have read 20 books and watched multiple training to better understand the function and build a program from the ground up. As the next team of 2 came around, I had built a 5 week training program with decks, reading materials and goals.
Fast forward to today, the experience I've gathered from reading, testing and failing has brought me to my new role. I am thrilled to announce that I am now focused full-time on Sales Enablement. My role is to onboard and equip the new SDR Team at Upland. Focusing on enabling managers and team members to be more productive everyday and generate awesome pipeline for our AE team! So exciting!
My focus is to increase lead conversion by improving buyer engagements, driving organizational alignment, increasing sales pipeline acceleration and improving the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the SDR function. I am being called an "Extender", I focus on understanding the current processes and tweaking them so they are more efficient and easier to follow. My role sits between various sales and marketing areas, including sales/marketing operations, product marketing, content marketing, field marketing and HR.
