Arguably one of the most well credentialed leaders in the global media intelligence space, in 2020, John set out to redesign the sector he knows so well, with the launch of Truescope.

Truescope is a business born social, backed by deep market experience, and with an aim to better inform communications through smart technology, smart insights and smart people. As the company’s founder, John is at the heart of strategy, product development, and technology to ensure Truescope is an innovative business solution built for today and designed for tomorrow.

John has more than 30 years’ experience within the communications and media intelligence industries, including his role as Chief Executive Officer of Media Monitors Pty Ltd and subsequently Isentia for almost two decades.

John drove Media Monitors management buyout with Quadrant Private Equity, to accelerate growth across Asia and harness social media capabilities. He also led Isentia to its listing on the Australian Stock Exchange and through his leadership, the company became Asia Pacific’s leading media intelligence company.

John is actively involved in industry boards and is a fellow of the International Association for the Measurement and Evaluation of Communications (AMEC), a Life Fellow of the Public Relations Institute of Australia (PRIA) and a member of the Institute of Company Directors. John is a recipient of AMEC’s Don Bartholomew Award for outstanding service to media measurement and effectiveness.

When John’s not scoping the media and finding ways to further enhance the media intelligence industry, you’ll find him avidly supporting all-things sport. He is Independent Chair of the Australian Sporting Alliance for People with a Disability (ASAPD) and was the former Chair of Disability Sports Australia and Vice President of the Australian Paralympic Committee. His service to disability sport, saw him awarded Member of the Order of Australia (AM).
