How Monetized Content Has Supported my Retail Store to Build a Six-Figure Business
Article

A decade of experience with reusable menstrual cups and discs - my expertise has grown multiple online properties to profitable leaders in the space. In 2020 I launched a solo venture with the goal of creating the highest quality resource on reusable menstrual products with a hybrid education/retail business model.

Period.Shop is the first US-based menstrual products store focusing on reusable and sustainable brands. All products must meet strict criteria to be carried and we are proud to offer many BCorp brands. We are the first store to create and sell a menstrual cup teen starter kit, currently working on the next iteration. We continue to stay on top of trends and new product launches, adding brands that fit our fast-growing retail store. Period.Shop grew considerably through social media video content and hit profitability in 6 months. We are bootstrapping all growth.

Period Nirvana is the most comprehensive resource on the topic of menstrual cups and menstrual discs. Updated weekly, our resources remain accurate and reflective of a fast-paced industry. Readers know they can trust PN for unbiased and well-researched articles, videos, charts, and other resources that make navigating a confusing product category easier. Period Nirvana takes on some brand clients for social media promotions and paid content.

KDR Creative, LLC offers consulting to brands in the reusable period products space on product design, marketing, messaging, and creative direction. I've worked with the top brands in this space on projects to ensure their final product, launch campaigns, product instructions/ illustrated guides, and/or their messaging is polished, accurate, inclusive, and engaging. As the top expert in this industry, I am available for select projects as time allows that have no conflict with other past/current engagements.

Hello Disc, recently launched, is a joint-design collaboration with Hello Period Co. in NZ. This reusable menstrual disc design is the first fully accessible, nearly one-size-fits-all period product. Together, we spent over a year perfecting what has already become the top-selling product for Period.Shop in just 3 months. First offered on Kickstarter, the project was fully funded in 6 days and closed with over 1,500 backers. This is not my first time collaborating with a brand or influencing product design; it is the first time creating a concept from scratch to then build on it with a brand.
