Mr. Paterson brings over 20 years of broad experience leading the development of cutting edge technology, tradecraft, and acquisition initiatives from within both the federal and civilian sectors. Mr. Paterson currently serves as the President and CEO of Unplugged Technologies LTD which has the mission of bringing privacy back to consumer cellular communications. Prior to Unplugged Mr. Paterson served as the Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of IST Research, from 2008 – 2020, supporting customers around the globe. Throughout its existence, IST Research has served in several capacities, however, its capstone achievement was the development and fielding of advanced information systems in the hardest to reach parts of the world. He successfully exited IST Research with a sale of the company in September of 2020. Mr. Paterson has been afforded the opportunity to serve inside of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), twice within his career. During his second tour at DARPA, he established the DARPA Forward Cell in Kabul, Afghanistan and served as the Deputy Director of the Adaptive Execution Office and as the Director of the DARPA Forward Cell. In this capacity he represented the agency, personally, from inside of Afghanistan. His work included directing operational trials of several emerging technologies, many of which have since transitioned to fully operational offerings to DoD. During his first tour at DARPA Mr. Paterson led one of the most successful program transitions by bringing Command Post of the Future to the Army during the height of the Iraqi conflict. Mr. Paterson’s Marine Corps experience includes training, deployments, and operations as an armor officer at the platoon, company, and battalion levels. Mr. Paterson has a proven track record of leading and managing complex, cutting-edge technology development, and transitioning this technology, into operations, globally. Mr. Paterson holds a BS in Mathematics from Virginia Tech and a MS in Applied Mathematics from the Naval Postgraduate School.
