Hello there, I'm Shannon! ☺️ I prioritize intention, responsiveness, and accessibility at the heart of design and solutions.
My time in the nonprofit and education space has always been rooted in my commitment to make room for those who share the struggles and big questions that define my work. As an educator, it was my responsibility to foster a space where learning was relevant, engaging, and meaningful. I could not have done this work without the expertise of my students and colleagues. Design thinking and research was a part of my daily practice as an educator who strived to honor the identities and lived experiences of my students. This was a collaborative, ongoing process of whole class discussions, surveys, affinity maps, formative and summative assessments, and particularly, honest and tough conversations. I have been humbled by the opportunity to learn alongside 188 14-16 year olds for the last two years. My students reminded me of the power of CARE when designing spaces that best optimized and measured the success (and joy) of its users. They challenged me to persistently understand the significance of relevancy and accessibility, drawing form cross-cultural knowledge, language, gender identity, disability justice, and so much more. I hope to share their lessons in the next space that welcomes me.
I am excited to continue "doing me" and grow my work as I create meaningful experiences/solutions for users! I would love to connect and chat about your career journey. If you are looking to connect because your journey overlaps with mine, please, let's chat!
