Suzanne's bliss is inspiring connection. Her life's purpose is to change the way our society raises children, helping families and classrooms to move away from punishment, fear, and shame, into evidence-based, restorative practices instead.
A mom of four, physical therapist, and parent educator practicing with a focus on attachment since 1992, Suzanne co-founded a holistic outpatient rehabilitation center in 2002 in her hometown of St. Louis, Missouri. In 2008 Suzanne founded the online community My Mommy Manual and in 2016, the e-commerce website and 1M+ social media followers strong community, Generation Mindful®, via a successful Kickstarter campaign.
Generation Mindful (GENM) is a global product and ed Tech company on a mission to raise an emotionally healthy world. GENM creates play-based tools, toys, and courses that build emotional intelligence in children and their care providers both at home and in early childhood classrooms. GENM's play-based tools intentionally take the science of connection practically and SIMPLY into everyday life where little moments of connection can have a big impact on children and their caregivers, improving school readiness and key protective factors of resilience.
In '18 Generation Mindful was a $50K Arch Grants Recipient in St. Louis Missouri, with a second equity-free $100K Arch Grants Growth Grant awarded in '22.
Suzanne is a regular parenting expert on two local television news channels' morning shows and has taught regular group positive (restorative/mindful) parenting classes for decades. As a guest lecturer for Parents as Teacher's National Conference, La Leche League, Illinois' First Steps Program, Children's Hope International, and other family-focused organizations, Suzanne shares her personal journey in motherhood, miscarriage, mindful parenting, and her life-long struggle to accept herself as "enough" in a heartfelt, often playful, and always encouraging way.
Mom of four children, five baby angels, and far too many pets to mention, Suzanne is co-author of the book Sunshine After The Storm on the topic of grief and loss, as well as a co-author of the children's book Heart's Treasure Hunt®. She is also the author/creator of the PeaceMakers® Mindfulness Card Deck, a game for inspiring mindful connection in homes and early childhood classrooms.
