I host the podcast Unthinkable, write the weekly newsletter Playing Favorites, and develop podcasts and docuseries for mission-driven brands, authors, and entrepreneurs. I'm also a frequent keynote speaker, and the author of the book Break the Wheel.
It is my personal, professional mission to help others make work that matters -- to their careers, their companies, and their communities.
I see creativity as a form of problem solving and leadership. It's a means of raising your hand to lead and investigate and improve things, and I want to help others frame their work as such. That can help us see the work and the world better and differently.
Before becoming a content entrepreneur, I held marketing and media roles at Google, HubSpot, and the VC firm NextView.
My biggest ambition and maybe grandest delusion is to be the Anthony Bourdain of business storytelling :)

When I was 7, I started a lemonade stand. Another kid on my street put up a competing stand near mine and undercut my prices, so I put my lemonade cooler in a little red wagon and took it door-to-door.
I've been marketing ever since. I'm one of those guys you probably avoided talking to in college because I think topics like marketing funnels, ad placement, and content strategy make for good party conversation.
My work is a contradiction: I'm a lifelong stutterer but a career communicator. I love what I do.
My primary expertise is in company messaging/narrative creation and content-first demand strategies that can drive revenue whether or not there's a heavy ad budget behind them.
I’m always looking for other marketing leaders I can learn from and new marketers looking for help from someone who’s been in their shoes.
Message me and let’s talk. 💬

My career in marketing started over 20 years ago, working in the corporate world as an account coordinator, then marketing assistant, corporate communications specialist and finally senior marketing specialist. Hence the name...The Marketing Specialist...I specialize in marketing, including graphic design and copywriting, but my passion is really in the digital space.

I always ensure my clients are getting the latest technology so they know all the options available to showcase their business online. I've co-authored the book, "Instagram for Business for Dummies," a how-to for using Instagram for marketing your business, and "Instagram for Dummies," a how-to for anyone to learn how to use Instagram.
