I have spent my whole life in the residential property management industry & learned the business from the ground up. I started in building maintenance while in high school. After graduating from college in 1983 I began working as a property manager, earned the Certified Property Manager (CPM) designation in 1992, & became President of West Coast Prop Mgmnt Co in 1993.

In 1999 I opened West Coast Prop Maintenance Co providing maintenance & construction services to properties throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. The company specializes in residential building maintenance, remodeling, and hazmat & emergency clean-up services.

As an industry representative I have served as President of the Professional Property Management Assoc (1996-2001), the San Francisco Apartment Assoc (2002-04 & again in 2015-17), & the California Apartment Assoc (2005-06). I teach classes & seminars on property management issues, appear at legislative hearings in San Francisco and Sacramento. I provide expert testimony to local & state legislators, speak at industry events, & provide services in legal proceedings & regulatory hearings.

Licenses & Certifications:
Licensed Real Estate Broker

In addition to my professional & industry work, I am dedicated to the support of LGBT equality, having served a term as the President of Scouts for Equality, the group that led the campaign that changed the BSA policy excluding gay scouts and leaders. I also support & work with Equality California serving on their Equality Council, GLAAD, The Trevor Project & the Human Rights Campaign.

Locally I served for 11 years on the Board of the Moraga Education Foundation, and have served on school PTAs, & as a Cub Scout and a Boy Scout leader. I am also the co-founder of a community program that supports inclusion & equality called the Moraga iKind Project.
