I host the podcast Unthinkable, write the weekly newsletter Playing Favorites, and develop podcasts and docuseries for mission-driven brands, authors, and entrepreneurs. I'm also a frequent keynote speaker, and the author of the book Break the Wheel.
It is my personal, professional mission to help others make work that matters -- to their careers, their companies, and their communities.
I see creativity as a form of problem solving and leadership. It's a means of raising your hand to lead and investigate and improve things, and I want to help others frame their work as such. That can help us see the work and the world better and differently.
Before becoming a content entrepreneur, I held marketing and media roles at Google, HubSpot, and the VC firm NextView.
My biggest ambition and maybe grandest delusion is to be the Anthony Bourdain of business storytelling :)
I'm the co-founder of a content marketing agency called Omniscient Digital, and I run the experimentation / CRO program at Workato.
I write mainly at alexbirkett.com.

I currently serve as President and Chief Executive Officer of Nasdaq. In this role, I am responsible for overseeing all of the company’s business segments with a focus on driving efficiency, product development, growth and expansion.
Prior to rejoining Nasdaq, I was Chief Financial Officer and Managing Director of The Carlyle Group from March 2011 to June 2014. As CFO, I had the unique opportunity to take the company public, showing me what it felt like to be a listing prospect, pursued for our IPO listing.
Before Carlyle, I was part of Nasdaq's management team for over a decade, serving in a variety of roles including head of the data products business, head of corporate strategy, and Chief Financial Officer. I have an MBA from Owen Graduate School of Management, Vanderbilt University, in Nashville, Tennessee and a B.A. in political science from Williams College in Massachusetts.
Freelance journalist for a variety of clients including CBS Local and Entercom media. I was recruited to help launch Examiner's ACE program, a partnership with CBS Local. I regularly contribute to CBS's Top Spots website, and consistently meet deadlines.
My primary areas of interest and expertise include fashion, beauty and entertainment, but I love to research and write about anything. I love learning, and writing allows me to do this.
I regularly utilize my interpersonal skills to build up a network of experts and rely on such skills as SEO and Social Media to promote my websites.
