Sr Marketing Manager, Voiceflow | Been known to build a Bot or two 🤖 | Podcast Co-Host|
Hi I'm Sara 👋
Big fan of the oxford comma, pasta, and marketing.
I started my first "adult" job 10 days after I graduated from college and grew from the first support rep to the power user of Drift inside of Drift.
I held 4 different roles, was recognized by the leadership team for upholding the leadership principles of the company, and awarded President's Club.
Then, I moved over to Alyce, helping them create the category of Personal Experience, grow a community of raving fans, and create a product and company that customers and non-customers love.
Now, I'm at Voiceflow, back to my roots as a growth marketer learning the PLG model and owning a community of 8,000+ conversation design experts.
From #5to9 you can catch me listening to True Crime Podcasts, training for a half marathon (I'm not running a race I just want to train to be able to run that many miles), reading, and eating.
I also co-host a podcast about professional growth and development. It's called Self Control & Cheese. Listen here: https://anchor.fm/selfcontrolandcheese

Brief History:
After a year of driving a full-sized school bus to two dozen cities (story in the Experience section of my profile), I spent a dozen years leading marketing teams inside local television stations in Grand Rapids (MI), Chicago, and Colorado Springs. As boredom with the work crept in, I earned an MBA and did project work for a variety of companies to explore interests and identify transferrable skills. In that process, I connected deeply with the team and mission of a bootstrapped software startup, BombBomb.
When I joined BombBomb, we had fewer than 10 employees. Since then, we've enjoyed +2,000% growth in team size, +32,000% growth in customer size, and +52,000% growth in revenue. We're a team of 125 people (based in downtown Colorado Springs but also distributed) who are on a mission to rehumanize people who've been dehumanized by system or circumstance; we're funding the effort by helping people rehumanize their business communication with video email and video messages.
I've now spent a decade helping people enjoy clearer communication, human connection, and higher conversion by replacing some of their faceless, digital communication with simple, personal video messages in emails, text messages, LinkedIn messages, Slack messages, and similar. I've sent more than 14,000 videos myself and co-authored two (and a half) books on the what, why, who, when, and how of this "relationships through video" movement.

Co-Founder WISL Forum/WIS Center for Excellence Leader/Conference Organizer/Professional Development Facilitator/Strategic Growth Advisor/2022 Top 100 Most Powerful Women in Sales
I am career long business development advisor. My passion, however is driven by two things: helping women appreciate and leverage every ounce of their innate power and; igniting impactful change that helps people and companies grow. These driving forces led to the creation of the Women in Sales Leadership Forum with the Institute for Excellence in Sales. The Forum brings together women sales leaders with trainers, coaches and women sales executives who have made it to the top of their game and who also want to help other women reach their highest potential. I could never have imagined and am truly humbled by the level of empowerment that these women--the participants and the trainers both—gain from their experience in the Forum and the relationships they developed as part of it.
"I have to say, going into this, I did not expect to learn and grow as much as I did, personally and professionally. I will highly recommend these sessions to other women who are open to understanding their "blind spots" . . . which may be preventing them from moving forward with their careers." Fall 2019 Forum Participant.

I believe that it’s essential to give back to the industry that’s given me so much, which I've done — and continue to do — by serving in leadership roles for industry associations and on advisory councils, participating as a speaker and emcee at countless industry events, and mentoring young professionals. I currently serve as an advisor on the Environmental Defense Fund’s Digital Advisory Council and serve on the Marketing Advisory Board for Baruch University’s Allen G. Aaronson Department of Marketing and International Business.
In 2015, I received a DMCNY Silver Apple lifetime achievement award for my contributions to the marketing industry.
I’ve contributed to several business books, including:
