Global Managing Partner at TwentyFirstCenturyBrand
I am Global Managing Partner at TwentyFirstCenturyBrand (21CB), where I lead our North American business. We partner directly with founders, CEOs and CMOs at some of the biggest and most admired brands in the world as well as some of the fastest-rising stars on everything from foundational brand strategy to iconic brand design & identity to marketing transformation. Over a 20+ year career, I’ve personally shaped strategy for global icons like Airbnb, Disney, Google, Netflix, Nike, Pepsico and Walmart, as well as the next generation of ambitious brands like Headspace, Instacart, Chime and Brex. I believe that the best strategy is wildly creative, and the best creative is rigorously strategic. Before I found my true calling in brand strategy, I started my career at McKinsey & Co., working with clients including the NBA, MoMA and Jazz at Lincoln Center. My experience in management consulting shaped my conviction that brand must drive business growth. I’ve shared my perspectives about brand on podcasts (On Strategy Showcase, Now Brands Talk, The AdCast), in print (Fast Company, Adweek, Authority Magazine), and as a judge (The Shorty Awards). I was born in Montreal, raised in LA, forged in NY, and tempered in SF. My degrees from Yale in Art History and Law are useful only when arguing the true meaning of beauty.

Coline Burland
Entrepreneur-Freelance | Retail, Sales & Marketing Strategy | Product Design | Retail&Food&Agriculture
As a committed entrepreneur, I am driven to use business as a lever to address major societal issues. I started in food distribution, where I held management positions for over 10 years in large groups in France, China, and Brazil (Coca-Cola, Carrefour, Casino-GPA, Franprix). From hypermarket manager to director of the offer for Franprix, through to the management of category management of GPA (the leading distributor in Brazil), I focused on activating internal levers for improving CSR criteria for distributed products and initiating dialogue with the agricultural world. From these convictions, Siga was born, the first index on the ultra-processing of food products. I switched to full-time entrepreneurship in 2019, to accelerate the changes I was leading in the company, and thus Omie was born, a pioneering grocery brand in regenerative agriculture. The producer suppliers of Omie implement agricultural practices that allow them to produce with living beings while ensuring the regeneration of soils, biodiversity, water quality, and air quality. (More than 250 products designed, 250 associated producers, up to 48 people in the teams and a series A of 15 million). And now, in 2024, while digging into projects in other sectors (Health and Industry), I support companies in their industrial, branding, and retail challenges, whether they are at an early or mature stage (Product design & sourcing, Industrialization and scale-up, Quality compliance process, Offer positioning, Commercial marketing and pricing strategy, Preparation and fundraising strategy). My support can take the form of consulting assignments or temporary taking on the role as a transition manager.

Cutting Through the Clutter of Traditional Marketing Advice | VP Marketing & Comms @ BrightView Health | The Rethink Marketing Podcast
When I jumped into healthcare marketing, I was excited to use modern marketing approaches to help people, families, and communities. I was shocked by the antiquated tactics, copycat strategies, navel gazing, and general confusion plaguing marketing in healthcare. Marketing can’t be relegated to “those people over there in that department.” It has to be ubiquitous throughout the health system to be truly successful. If patients don’t FEEL our marketing, then we’re stuck in old habits. So let's tip convention on its head and move healthcare marketing and communications into the 21st century. Join me in the revolution. It takes guts to be unconventional. Not every brand can do it, and not every person can do it. But to stand out in a crowded marketplace, we have to embrace what makes us different, quirky, unique, and odd. We recognize that customers usually choose “different” if they can’t define “better,” so why are we scared to break away from the pack? Let’s point out the flaws in the broken system and bring better ideas, state-of-the-art execution, a love for experimentation, and an intense passion to help people get better and stay healthier. I’ll share my learnings along the way, and I hope you will, too!
