I have worked in IT and Software Engineering for over 25 years in various capacities from Senior Developer, through Solutions and Enterprise Architect, to CTO and CIO. Throughout my entire career I have remained hands-on while operating at a strategic level, both technically and commercially. I have worked within a variety of domains including e-commerce, retail, logistics/reverse logistics, telecom, higher education, manufacturing, insurance, professional services, media/entertainment, resource management, loyalty/rewards and public sector.
I am quite passionate about using purpose-fit technology to solve business problems, remaining focused on commercial outcomes and the customer, rather than implementing the latest toys on the shelf. I strongly believe that successful tech projects are based on a foundation of a solid architecture, delivery methodology and cooperative team culture. I am also a keen advocate of removing technical debt appropriately and swiftly, to make way for unbridled innovation, whilst remaining technology agnostic (right tool for the job).
Leadership to me, means creating and collaborating on a Vision that can be clearly articulated and easily understood to all levels of stakeholders. From there, execution should remain laser-focused, giving everyone in the team a common goal to achieve, along with the ownership and accountability it deserves.
My philosophy has always been of a 'pay-it-forward' basis and to this day I stand by it, so feel free to reach out and connect.
